Abstract Scope |
Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) have been utilized to analyze the precipitation reactions in the 7XXX series aluminum alloys. To optimize the process steps in practical applications, it is great importance to know the dissolution kinetics. In the present work, DSC was employed to analyze the T (Al2Mg3Zn3), S (Al2CuMg) and η (MgZn2) phase transformations in 7075 aluminium alloy through different homogenization temperatures (single or two step), soaking times and cooling conditions. The samples were homogenized in furnace of the calorimeter, and the microstructural effects were evaluated with DSC tests, optical microscope and SEM/EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy-Dispersive Spectroscopy) investigations. The results showed that in situ DSC tests allows to develop suitable homogenization conditions with the controlled heating and cooling rates. |
