Abstract Scope |
The FGD (Flue Gas Desulfurization) gypsum, a byproduct of the desulfurization process of combustion gases in thermal power plants, is a example of industrial waste that can pose significant public health risks if not managed properly. In this regard, the aim of this study is to determine the influence of incorporating FGD gypsum on the flexural strength of epoxy matrix composites, aiming to generate an adequate disposal of waste and/or technological gains. Different formulations of waste were incorporated into a Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A/Diethylenetriamine (DGEBA/DETA) matrix in varying proportions: 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% by volume. The flexural test was carried out following the guidelines of ASTM D790, the results being analyzed using an analysis of variance and Tukey test. Through this work it is possible to observe the influence of FGD gypsum on flexural resistance, as well as the technological feasibility of its use. |
