Abstract Scope |
Natural fiber reinforcement in polymer matrices is creating new possibilities for improving the environmental and economic sustainability of the polymer industry and expanding applications in engineering. This research presents results on the additive manufacturing of these materials using short coffee waste shells. Various characterizations, including scanning electron microscopy and tensile tests, are provided. Weibull statistics for the tensile tests are also included. Incorporating this organic waste into engineered composite materials extends the useful life of the residual shells, making the process environmentally friendly and offering potential benefits for the local economy. Results indicate that the filaments exhibit good strength and feasibility for scaling up the process.
