Abstract Scope |
Trajectories for additive manufacturing industries and applications involve many potential futures. These trajectories are influenced by many critical factors across our ecosystem. Potential futures of additive manufacturing have implications for human wellbeing. This study explores a spectrum of additive manufacturing futures characterized by an adopted psychological needs and PESTEL analysis framework. PESTEL analysis has been used to contextualize the setting in which an entity operates and predict situations that favor desired outcomes for the entity of interest. Human psychological motivations, needs, and values have been explored in literature through a variety of frameworks and methodologies to better understand intangible factors contributing to human well being. Ultimately, this work uses a foresight approach to direct attention towards emerging factors that could have major implications for achieving desirable futures in additive manufacturing. |
