Abstract Scope |
The cement industry accounts for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions annually. The usefulness of cement as a building material makes it the natural choice for the basis of construction. Together these two facts show that cement is an integral part of our society today and will not be easily replaced at scale. Thus, alternative methods and mixtures must be developed to minimize the emissions of cement while still providing the strength necessary to build structures with. Supplementary cementitious materials coupled with additive manufacturing will lead to less intrinsic and process emissions in cement. |
