Abstract Scope |
The interest to use nanoparticles and nanocarbon to reinforce light metals has attracted attention in recent years due to their potential application as lightweight high performance materials for both environmental and economical benefit, in applications including aeronautics and automotive. Challenges in successfully producing nano-metal composites are to achieve a homogenous dispersion of nanoparticles in the metal matrix and to build a suitable interface between those nanoparticles and lightweight metals. Following our presentation at TMS 2024, we continue presenting our work this year in nanoparticle dispersion and effective interface design between the nanoparticles and the lightweight metal matrices. The microstructure analysis of such a nano-metal composites at different dimension from micro to nanoscale will be also introduced, e.g. via HRTEM, 2D EBSD vs. 3D XCT etc. |
