This study highlights the integration of advanced manufacturing techniques and sensor technology for smart sensing on nuclear packages. Additive manufacturing and sensor integration can be leveraged to achieve customized designs, real-time monitoring, and predictive maintenance. This approach enhances the safety, efficiency, and security of nuclear packages, ensuring the safe transportation and storage of radioactive materials. Challenges such as materials and manufacturing (such as radiation resistance, environmental protection, temperature stability etc.), standardization, sensor reliability, data management, and cybersecurity need to be addressed. Continued research and development efforts are crucial for realizing the full potential of this technology in nuclear package management. |
