Abstract Scope |
The development and improvement of AHSS requires a better understanding of the processes occurring during steel production, mainly phase transformations at the nanoscale. In particular, the control of ferrite formation from austenite is critical for the production of DP steels. The interaction and segregation of alloying elements with migrating transformation interface directly affects the kinetics of ferrite growth and is important for understanding this phase transformation mechanism.
In this paper, the atomic scale redistribution of the alloying elements across the austenite-ferrite interface in a model Fe-C-Mn steels is investigated. The originality of the work presented is to couple different advanced technics such as EBSD, FIB, TKD and Atom probe tomography (APT) techniques. Different alpha/gamma interfaces corresponding to various experimental conditions were selectively analyzed. The profiles of both C and Mn through the alpha/gamma interface were discussed on the basis of the existing interfacial models for ferrite transformation in steels. |
