Abstract Scope |
The axlebox bearings in railway vehicle are one of the important parts that play a role in smoothly driving the axle of the vehicle. If the axlebox bearing is damaged, it will lead to the destruction of the axle and cause a serious accident. In order to prevent such an accident, it is required to monitor the temperature condition of the axlebox bearing. In this study, infrared thermography technology was applied to monitor the temperature in real-time. First, a sensing algorithm that can operate infrared camera was developed, and then software for implementing the algorithm was prepared. A fixed sensing module was manufactured so that it could be installed along the wayside of track. A laboratory-scale verification test was conducted, and finally, it was actually installed on the wayside and the axle box temperature was monitored in real-time. In this investigation, the development process and experimental results will be introduced. |
