Abstract Scope |
A novel approach to medical device development is being explored by a group of SPARC-funded researchers to create a modular platform for neuromodulation therapies. This collaboration, Cleveland Open Source Modular Implant Innovators Community (COSMIIC), aims to reimagine active implantable systems to include open source concepts and tools for the translational neuromodulation community. In this work, mechanical testing for the connections in the NOVA (Neural Open-Source Versatile Array) are discussed. The development of witness parts to represent the interface of the conductors and the pins on the 8-channel feedthroughs and the mechanical properties of the 1x7 35N LT silver-cored, drawn filled tube insulated strand are explored. Additionally, test schemes are discussed for the 32-channel lead body and reliability data presented. Data from this work, along with all aspects of the COSMIIC platform (e.g., mechanical drawings, test data, etc.), will be released via the SPARC portal and GitHub. |
