Abstract Scope |
The pyrometallurgical process of copper slag has problems such as high reduction temperature and long reduction time. Microwave heating can reduce the reduction difficulty and energy consumption. In this paper, by simulation of microwave heating process of copper slag, it was found the main phase in the slag, olivine, relied on magnetic loss to absorb microwave energy at room temperature. At high temperatures, the slag relied on dielectric loss for continuous microwave heating. The single copper slag pellet reached 851 ℃ in 35 min under 1000 W. For multiple copper slag pellets, their heating was affected by the edge effect. The surface electric field strength reached 33900 V/m and the magnetic field strength reached 97.2 A/m. Their final temperature in 35 min was only 481 ℃ due to their larger loading mass. It is necessary to set an appropriate loading mass and microwave power to obtain the highest microwave utilization. |
