Abstract Scope |
Lithium-ion batteries are extensively utilized in applications such as electric vehicles, smartphones, and energy storage systems. Recently, there has been a growing interest in lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) as a cathode material due to its thermal stability, and cost-effectiveness. However, the practical application of LiFePO₄ is hindered by its low electronic conductivity. The common strategy to overcome these limitations is to coat the LiFePO₄ surface with conductive carbon. Although numerous studies have been conducted in this area, research is ongoing to develop a carbon coating. In this study, we aim to optimize the carbon coating layer on LiFePO₄ using a cost-effective solid-state reaction. We employed glucose as a carbon source and explored its combination with polystyrene to improve the properties of the carbon coating. Additionally, a catalyst was incorporated to promote graphitization and enhance the conductivity of the carbon layer. This approach resulted in a LiFePO₄ with improved properties. |
