Abstract Scope |
Silver chalcogenide materials display liquid-like properties during phase transitions, where internal stresses induced by these changes lead to significant structural deformations. Excess silver addition expels highly mobile silver ions, resulting in the formation of silver whiskers. This research uses the solubility difference between the substrate and the silver phase to create a solid solution phase with low mobility, effectively suppressing these unstable structures. By comparing different doping elements, we identified compositions that concurrently enhance thermoelectric performance. For instance, the sample doped with 1.5 at% gallium exhibited a 50% increase in the zT value at 623 K compared to undoped Ag2Te. Furthermore, this study measured the first Ag2Te system single-leg thermoelectric efficiency by commercial instrument, demonstrating structural stability across multiple cycles. |
