Abstract Scope |
In this study, alternative production techniques were carried out for the production of FeCr and FeCrNi alloys, which are ferroalloys that can be produced with high energy consumption and high CO2 emissions.
While the reduction of chromite concentrates by aluminothermic process was investigated for FeCr production, the production of FeCrNi alloys from chromite and lateritic nickel ores by one-step carbothermic reduction was investigated for use in stainless steel production.
Using a 270 kVA DC EAF furnace, smelting experiments were carried out and the results were evaluated especially on slag basicity. Optimization studies were completed with characterization techniques such as chemical analysis and XRF. |
