Abstract Scope |
Based on the highly titanium-friendly liquid metal cathodes that have been reported so far for molten salt electrolysis, we chose tin as the liquid electrode for the purpose of titanium extraction from waste titanium slag. In this work, we investigated the diffusion process of titanium metal on liquid tin by analyzing the vertical cross sections of the samples after dissolution of titanium metal in liquid tin for different times and by using the constant current intermittent titration method in electrochemical testing technique. The results show that titanium metal has a large solubility and diffusion coefficient in liquid tin. And we investigated the anodic dissolution behavior of Ti-Sn alloy using linear polarization, electrochemical impedance and chronoamperometry, and the results showed that titanium could be separated from the alloy. This work can provide a theoretical basis for the proposed new process of titanium extraction. |
