Abstract Scope |
Conversion of coal and coal refuses to high-value carbon products such as graphite, graphene, and nanocarbon etc. by various methods play a vital role towards sustainability in a broad sense. This includes saving natural graphite, a critical material for a wide range of technologies including batteries. Synthesis of high-value carbon products by relatively low temperature and environmentally benign processes, in contrast with the traditional methods, reduces greenhouse gas emission and energy consumption. However, the R&D for the synthesis of high-value carbon products for clean energy sectors is still emerging. A review of the state-of-the art synthesis methods, along with their benefits and drawbacks and challenges, will be presented based on the public domain literature. |
