Abstract Scope |
Heterogeneous catalysts drive numerous industrial processes, including chemical production, energy conversion, and environmental protection. Enhancing their efficiency and durability necessitates a deep understanding of the intricate relationships between their complex 3D structure, chemical makeup and performance. Bulk and or ambient-temperature characterization often fails to capture the complex nature of these catalysts under real operational conditions, creating a significant barrier to optimizing their design and functionality. Here, we present recent advances in the acquisition and analysis of (Operando) and Linear Dichroic Ptychographic Spectro-Tomography as a tool to facilitate a 3D compositional, chemical and or microstructural characterization of Heterogeneous Catalysts in their use-geometry under operational conditions. Presented are three studies ranging from model-supported catalysts to industrial in-use catalysts. Catalysts were examined at a spatial resolution of 20 nm at up to 800°C under contrasting atmospheres. |
