Abstract Scope |
In the aluminum reduction cells, the thickness of the side ledge is irregular due to varying convective heat transfer at different positions on the side and different flow rates in each area. with the increase in anode density of high amperage cells, it has become increasingly difficult to form a stable ledge. The unstable ledge increases the horizontal current, affects stability, and greatly impacts the safety, stability, and lifespan of the cell.
The system is composed of three parts: a real-time temperature measuring device, forced cooling network, and simulation control software. The system analyzes the temperature data from different positions , the system simulates the heat dissipating capacity and the thickness of the side ledge at different positions. By adjusting the forced cooling, the heat dissipation at each position of the cell is controlled regionally. This ensures that the different positions of the cell form a uniform and stable ledge. |
