Abstract Scope |
We will present a review of our recent work that looks at tuning the properties of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) through composition variations. Our focus will be on ternary alloys of TMDCs but will include some discussion of doping. Considering TMDCs as potential electrocatalysts, we have investigated the impact of O, Co, and Se in MoSx based alloys on their electrocatalytic properties and correlated this behavior with film chemistry determined by XPS. We will also discuss our alloys of metallic 3R-NbSe2 with semiconducting 3R-NbS2 with a view to creating ultra-low TCR materials. Finally, we will report on the electronic properties of WSxSe2-x thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy as well as the potential of Nb as a dopant impurity for WSe2. |
