Abstract Scope |
Composite materials represent a growing area of research, considering the current climate crisis whose effects can already be felt in various parts of the world. Their potential to integrate low-environmental-impact materials with high-efficiency materials offers the possibility of producing sustainable and high-quality materials. Thus, this paper studies the impact resistance of a polymer composite with an epoxy matrix reinforced with eucalyptus particles and montmorillonite clay. Formulations containing 0%, 5% (2,5%+2,5%), 10% (5%+5%), and 20% (10%+10%) total volumetric fraction of montmorillonite clay and eucalyptus, were developed for Izod impact testing, using standardized test specimens. The results showed a potential application a protective coating in areas exposed to rush environments, since that combines the properties from clay and natural fibers. |
