Abstract Scope |
Fog formation on optical devices such as contact lenses, optical glasses, endoscopic instruments, microscopic slides, and lenses is a significant concern in medicine and biomedical engineering. To tackle this challenge, different methods for creating unique superhydrophilic coatings have shown excellent antifogging properties even under aggressive fogging conditions, and such interface has been extensively used in various practical applications. Hence, this paper reviews the recent development of antifogging coatings on optical devices. The reported coating techniques naturally suffer stability and durability; the durability of the coatings is crucial in human daily life, and it is intensively reflected in this study. Also, the ongoing progress and potential efforts in the recent innovative applications of coating, the critical conclusion, and the obstacle to the durability of antifogging coatings on glasses/lenses are discussed in the presented survey. |
