Abstract Scope |
EGA and INALUM signed a Technology License Agreement (TLA) on 21 December 2020 to upgrade INALUM Potline 1 consisting of 128 Sumitomo S170 pots at Kuala Tanjung smelter. In the first stage of the project, five pilot pots were upgraded in Potline 1 and are now operating at 215 kA, which is 20 kA higher than Potline 1 present amperage of 195 kA. The start-up of the five pilot pots was completed successfully between 25 May 2023 and 9 June 2023.
The TLA included a contractual obligation to carry out a performance test of the pilot pots for a period of 4 weeks (28 days) including 21 metal tapping and 21 anode settings as per the 32 hours work schedule. The TLA required the upgraded pilot pots to achieve a daily metal production of 1619 kg/pot/day while operating at the amperage of 215 kA during the test period. |
