Abstract Scope |
A reduced tapping cycle was proposed as an essential element to improve ALBRAS current efficiency. Previously metal tapping was done every 48h. A 32h metal tapping cycle was tested aiming to reduce liquid variation in the cells and to improve current efficiency. The trial together with improvements on operation, proved a 2.03% CE increase supported by better heat balance figures, reduced ledge variation, lower noise, less anode effects, lower voltage per cell and iron content. Less iron also makes it possible to increase the production volume of PFA and P0610 alloys. This paper discusses the test development with respect to process and operational structure and achieved results which has guided ALBRAS discussions for its optimum operating mode for the coming years. |
