Abstract Scope |
This study investigates the potential of manganese carbodiimide coated with carbon (MnNCN@C) as a promising candidate for anode materials in Li-ion batteries. The development of a straightforward synthesis method holds significant importance in evaluating the material's capabilities. Accordingly, MnNCN@C was synthesized using a sol-gel process, followed by calcination at 700 °C in a nitrogen (N2) atmosphere for 1.5 hours. The MnNCN phase was verified through X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and electron diffraction. The coated carbon phase was characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy. Utilizing the BET technique, the specific surface area and pore size of the MnNCN@C composites were determined to be 9.19 × 10^3 cm^2/g and 7.512 nm, respectively. The material's performance was evaluated through a cycling test, demonstrating its ability to withstand 100 cycles with an approximate 200 mAh/g capacity. Importantly, the cell exhibited adequate capacity retention even under higher current conditions.
