Abstract Scope |
Local properties are carefully investigated at grain and domain boundaries for manganate and pzt polycrystalline thin films. Leveraging Tomographic Atomic Force Microscopy, domain morphologies as a function of grain orientation, and proximity to grain boundaries, are investigated with volumetric resolution as fine as 10x10x2 nm. 3-dimensional localized curvature along domain walls, approaching domain intersections, and at grain boundaries are also uniquely resolved and statistically analyzed. Domain intersections exhibiting local chirality are directly observed as well. Such insights are important for advanced modelling, enhanced processing, novel engineered devices, and ultimately optimized applications of functional oxides. |
