Abstract Scope |
Van der Waals materials open new pathways to realize state-of-the-art nanoscale devices owing to their weak interlayer forces and remarkable physical properties. The interfacial engineering of vdW heterostructures can facilitate numerous emerging quantum phenomena via proximity effect. The proximity effect in addition with external perturbations results in unique structural, electrical, magnetic, optical and thermal properties that can stimulate interests for cutting-edge technologies. In line with this, the realization of moiré superlattices upon incorporation of twist degree of freedom leads to electronic structure modulation via strong electron localization. This twist proximity effect ensures exceptional control and flexibility to engineer various emerging transport phenomena. Nonetheless, the magnetic proximity effect also expanded the scope of miniaturized low-power spintronics, valleytronics, orbitronics etc. |
