Abstract Scope |
The ability to govern particle assembly in an evaporative-driven additive manufacturing (AM) can realize multi-scale hierarchical features fundamental to the creation of functional devices. Indeed, the ability to achieve consistent deposition is critical for active electronics printing, especially since it requires the integration of multiple functional layers. However, existing approaches remain challenging to control due to the highly complex multiphase phenomena in the evaporative-driven assembly process. Here we demonstrate a synergistic integration of an evaporative-driven multiscale 3D printer with an image-processing guided machine learning algorithm that allows precise control of particle deposition and feature classification. We have also studied, for the first time, the integration of diffusiophoresis in evaporative-driven AM where we show that diffusiophoresis can play a dominant role in evaporative-driven particle assembly. We envision that such integration can provide valuable insights into elucidating the complex evaporative-driven assembly process and ultimately realizing new classes of high-performance 3D printed electronics. |
