Abstract Scope |
High Performance Ni-superalloys form the backbone of the refractory alloys in the aerospace and aviation industry. The critical components in such industry have limited life and repairability due to the huge overhead cost of maintaining older supply chain of these parts. Additive manufacturing (AM) has been seen as the faster way to print complex service-critical parts. However, it falls short on the metrics of reliability and quality of surface and microstructure. In such cases repair of those service critical parts using High-quality deposition with single crystal microstructure is of paramount significance in extending the life and saving billions in the aviation industry. A state-of-the-art laser processing technology of Scanning laser epitaxy of PWA 1480 is presented. Which allow for first time ever, highest quality single crystal deposition in highly controlled inert atmosphere. Properties and rigorous characterization results are presented and discussed. |
