Abstract Scope |
Accurate simulations of novel biliary stent designs can provide valuable predictions of structural concerns. Parameters needed for ANSYS were obtained from tensile testing of Formlabs Durable (Dur) and Dur + 15% v/v PEGMA (Dur-PEG15) samples (N > 6). The incorporation of PEGMA significantly increases the elasticity (Dur: E = 107.06 MPa ± 12.42 MPa vs Dur-PEG 15: E = 54.3 MPa ± 2.54, P < .05; N = 8). To improve our experimental precision and enable simulation accuracy, a stent bend testing fixture was designed for our MTS; a combination of collar clamps and intraluminal posts hold the stent in place. The bend testing fixture can then be readily modeled in ANSYS. Preliminary bend testing results with the new fixture showed a peak deformation of 17.5 mm ± 1.3 mm at 11.3 ± 2.4 N (N = 10). |
