Abstract Scope |
Recent studies have characterized the mechanical behavior of additively manufactured C103 at elevated temperatures. The publicly available data has been collected using test setups with heating rates on the order of 10 to 20 °C/min. However, C103 components in propulsion applications experience near instantaneous changes in temperature. In this work, thin wall C103 specimens were printed via laser powder – directed energy deposition (LP – DED) and tested in a controlled environment with heating rates of up to 100 °C/s. Results are compared to data from high vacuum tension test setups with heating rates on the order of 10 °C/min. |
