Abstract Scope |
We propose a simple way to predict orientation tensor distribution to reduce costs on multiscale mechanical simulation of short fiber reinforced plastics(SFRP). Its accuracy compared with the multiscale result for some cases will also be presented.
A conventional multiscale simulation for SFRP consist of following steps: 1) molding simulation including prediction of fiber orientation, 2) fiber orientation mapping from molding simulation to structural analysis and 3) structural simulation for composite material with considering the effect of fiber orientation to mechanical properties. Thus one needs to use 2 different types of simulation software together with a mapping tool, leading cost increase for human-work, software development and computational resources in predicting mechanical properties for SFRP. We think that this situation has been preventing the multiscale simulation to be utilized in industry and propose a simple and reasonable method to reduce the simulation costs. |
