Abstract Scope |
Replacing critical elements (Nd and Pr) in the RE2Fe14B-type magnet with less critical elements (La or Ce) has been intensively studied in the past years. However, the magnetic properties of the magnets containing La or Ce are still much lower than the theoretical values predicted from the intrinsic properties of the La/Ce2Fe14B phase. The magnetic properties of a magnet are predominantly governed by its intrinsic properties and microstructures. In this work, the effects of Mischmetal (MM) substitution for Nd on the magnetic properties and microstructures of the sintered (Nd1-xMMx)-(Fe, Co)-B magnets (x=0 to 1) are systematically investigated. Pr-Cu eutectic alloy, as a sintering aid, is also doped to enhance the coercivity. The Hcj and (BH)max of magnets gradually decreases with increasing x from 0 to 0.5, and rapidly decreases after x>0.6. The relationship of magnetic properties to the MM concentration and microstructures of the magnets will be analyzed and discussed. |
