Abstract Scope |
Energy balance is the basis of energy saving in aluminum electrolysis. A smelter has realized energy saving by conducting systematic research on energy balance while reducing cell voltage. Low thermal conductivity materials were selected for lining materials. The inner lining of electrolysis cell was optimized to reduce heat dissipation of the cathode area, and the heat dissipation of the anode area was reduced at the same time. The three-dimensional electrothermal coupling calculation showed that regular cell ledge could form after above optimization. In production, parameters such as aluminum level, electrolyte level and superheat were strictly controlled to ensure that the energy balance design goal was achieved. The industrial test showed that energy consumption of test cell can reach 12235kWh/t-Al after energy balance optimization, which was 492kWh/t-Al lower than that of comparison cell. The total heat dissipation of test cell was 1.609V, which was 129mV lower than that of comparison cell. |
