Abstract Scope |
The PRISMS-PF framework is an open-source, high-performance code for phase-field simulations of microstructure evolution. We present an overview of the latest efforts for improving the framework’s performance and ease of use, and discuss some of its recently developed applications, focusing on simulating static recrystallization in Mg alloys. In addition, we describe the integration of this framework with CASM (Cluster Approach to Statistical Mechanics) for automated capturing of input free energies required by the phase-field simulations. Finally, we discuss the ongoing development of an integrated framework that features coupling of phase-field and crystal plasticity finite element (CPFE) models to solve for elastic and plastic strains concurrently with the dynamics of interfaces and solute fields. We plan to apply this model to simulate twin morphology evolution in Mg alloys as well as dynamic recrystallization in the near future. |
