Abstract Scope |
In the context of “Double Carbon”, increasing the scrap steel consumption in converter have become important pathways for improving energy efficiency and achieving carbon reduction in the steel industry. Present studies about the scrap melting behavior were conducted under the laboratory conditions, which were very different from that of the actual top-bottom converter. Therefore, a coupled algorithm including the models of turbulence, multiphase, solidification/melting and species transport was established to numerically investigate the steel flow, scrap melting, and carbon diffusion behaviors in a converter with top-bottom blowing under different scrap and blowing conditions. The results showed that the ultimate scrap steel ratio in converter steelmaking can be obtained through the analysis of flow, heat and mass transfer phenomena of scrap, and the utilization rate of scrap steel is enhanced. Besides, the order of contribution on improving scrap utilization rate is mixed power>bath temperature>scrap specific surface area>carbon content of scrap. |
