Abstract Scope |
We are investigating the linear and nonlinear optical properties in the visible and infrared range of chalcophosphates with general formula M2P2X6, where X = S, Se, or a mixture of the two, and M = Sn, Pb. Some materials in this class have non-centrosymmetric ferroelectric crystal phases at or near room temperature. Sn2P2S6 is a known electro-optic and photorefractive crystal. The effect of Se for S substitution on the Curie temperature, the second harmonic generation efficiency, and the transparency window of these materials will be discussed. |
