Abstract Scope |
In-situ alloying of GRCop-42 (Cu-4 at% Cr-2 at% Nb) via laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) has been shown as viable for producing the dispersion strengthened alloy. However, with this new technique, there has been issues with porosity, unreacted material, and oxide formation. These defects effect the mechanical properties of the material and prevent its use. Post-processing of defective material may be able to improve the properties enough to make the material usable. This work will explore using hot isostatic pressing (HIP) as a potential method to reduce porosity and improve mechanical properties. Tensile and creep testing of as built and HIPed material at temperatures ranging from 25˚C to 600˚C was done. The effects of HIP on in-situ alloyed LBPF GRCop-42 will be discussed in terms of mechanical properties, fractography, and porosity. |
