Abstract Scope |
Steam-methane reformer tube materials play a vital role in improving reformer efficiency and lifespan. However, composition developments have remained stagnant, with limited novel additions. Over the years, there is little published literature examining the individual effects of Ta on the microstructure of micro-alloyed HP-alloys, with initial conclusions showing beneficial effects on the stability of phases. This work aims to investigate the microstructural stability of alloys modified with Ta. The microstructural evolution is evaluated at operating temperatures currently optimised in reformers. In addition, thermodynamic calculations are used to complement the results.
