Abstract Scope |
Advances in additive manufacturing (AM) technology using ceramic materials has continued to evolve over the years with growing areas of application. Nevertheless, ceramic 3D printing technology is yet to gain sufficient spotlight within the ceramic industry and institutions in Nigeria. This paper presents the effort of producing digital forms for studio ceramic prototyping based on indirect 3D printing techniques. This study experience stemmed from the development of a delta type Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) machine, which was in turn used to generate precise models for casting clay wares using the Plaster of Paris. It is hoped that this attempt will contribute to the diffusion of ceramic 3D printing technology within ceramic education and professional circles in Nigeria and beyond. |
