| Abstract Scope |
At steel melt shops many parameters such as melt temperature or steel composition are monitored online or at least in-situ. However, the analysis of the slag composition is missing from this consideration, which is problematic as it provides extensive information about the process.
The post-mortem availability of slag analysis is since previous analysis technologies rely on physical sample homogenization. On the other hand, laser OES's exceptionally high measurement rate allows digital homogenization and analysis values without sample preparation and in seconds. Various improvements can be achieved through pinpoint process control, such as extended refractory life, reduced FeO-loss, and many more. |
