Abstract Scope |
The ability of thermoelectric materials to directly convert heat into electrical power has garnered significant attention. However, operating thermoelectric modules at high temperatures has led to damage in the module joints. This research aims to identify an effective thin film diffusion barrier for AgSbTe2 thermoelectric materials, choosing thin film over bulk material due to its smaller volume. A medium and high-entropy metal-based material system is selected as the thin-film diffusion barrier because of its ability to prevent diffusion between copper electrodes, solder, and thermoelectric legs. The study involves depositing medium and high-entropy alloy thin film barriers on the hot side of the AgSbTe2 single-leg and evaluating the module's energy conversion efficiency using standardized instruments. |
