Abstract Scope |
In this work, newly synthesized ZnO-doped C3N4 nanocapsules with different concentrations of ZnO were incorporated into the NiP metallic coating using the electroless deposition technique. The as-plated and heat-treated nanocomposite coatings were fully characterized. The results indicated that the microhardness of as-plated and heat-treated nanocomposite coatings significantly improved after incorporating undoped C3N4 nanocapsules. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization (PP) measurements revealed that the corrosion resistance of heat-treated undoped and doped coatings is higher than the corresponding as-plated ones. Furthermore, the colony counting method used to evaluate the antibacterial behavior of the as-plated and heat-treated coatings demonstrated superior antibacterial properties, especially after heat treatment. Therefore, ZnO-doped nanocapsules can be utilized as a reinforcement nanomaterial in improving the mechanical and anticorrosion properties of NiP metallic coatings in chloride media, along with superior antibacterial properties. |
