Abstract Scope |
Phonon-drag phenomenon has recently received a great attention because energy conversion efficiency of thermoelectric materials is predicted to be enhanced by phonon-drag thermopower. It is known that, if the electron-phonon interaction is predominant, phonons can drag electrons following the temperature gradient and the phonon-drag effect enhances total thermopower over the conventional carrier-diffusion thermopower. Establishing the control and enhancement of the phonon drag effect is expected to be useful for future thermoelectric material development. In this talk, we report an unusually large phonon-drag thermopower enhancement in thin-film heterostructure of a strongly correlated electron oxide LaNiO3 by controlling the epitaxial strain and layer thickness in atomic-scale. |
