Abstract Scope |
Tensile testing of high dose reactor pressure vessel surveillance capsule harvested from shutdown Palisades Nuclear Power Plant revealed very high level of hardening of base and weld metals from this capsule that was irradiated to ≈1.87x1020 n/cm2 (E>1 MeV) at ≈550F. After tensile tests, small discs were machine from broken head of the specimens and subject to annealing at three temperatures 343°C, 450°C, and 500°C. Effectiveness of annealing was measured by means of hardness test performed 1, 10, 100, and 168 hours at each annealing temperature. Presentation will discuss role annealing time and temperature on recovery of hardness of both, base and weld RPV metals. |
