Abstract Scope |
Monitoring specific binding events between target molecules and biorecognition elements, such as aptamers, within nanochannels, offers an appealing sensing mechanism. Impedance change based sensing requires a potentiostat to provide stability and versatility. To address the need for an alternative to potentiostat, our research group presents a signal processing chip (ADuCM350) based impedance reader. We employed an amodiaquine aptamer-immobilized nanoporous alumina membrane as the sensing platform to evaluate the performance of the impedance reader and a commercial potentiostat. Our results demonstrate comparable KD values of 2 nM and 4 nM from the potentiostat and impedance reader, respectively, for amodiaquine sensing. The impedance reader exhibited a higher LOD (~25 nM) than the potentiostat (~8 nM), which may explain the slightly lower accuracy and resolution observed. Nonetheless, the impedance reader shows promising potential for future point-of-care applications due to its affordability, compact size, and automation advantages |
