Abstract Scope |
Hydrogels are biocompatible materials that have been used as drug delivery devices. In this study, we employ molecular imprinting methods to embed the drug within the hydrogel matrix. Once hydrogen bonding interactions have occurred, the hydrogel is polymerized and the resulting material contains target molecule-shaped pores within the matrix. Here, we examine the drug release kinetics and size limitations of molecules in a hydrogel system, where we explore the reuptake of the drug into the matrix and determine how the stimuli-response of the material plays a role in the drug release concentration. |
