Abstract Scope |
Seeking to extend the useful life of lightweight and resistant materials for high-performance bicycles, this study compared the torque resistance of polymer composites reinforced with different fibers, using natural ramie fiber as the focus. Composites with ramie, carbon, kevlar and glass fibers were exposed to an accelerated aging test in a UV weathering chamber. Pure epoxy resin and 3D printing resins were used to manufacture the composites. The results showed the influence of UV radiation on the torque resistance of the materials, providing relevant data for the application of natural fibers in bicycles. In addition, the study confirmed the potential of ramie fiber as a sustainable and economically viable alternative to synthetic fibers. |
