Abstract Scope |
The reverse cladding procedure involves depositing the substrate materials onto the surface-prepared source material. In this methodology, the interface's reaction zone depends on the material combination and interdiffusion of the elements, which is governed by heat transfer. Reverse cladding through casting of immiscible dissimilar materials results in an intermetallic zone and similar materials in a re-casted zone at the interface. Intermetallic zone thickness increases from the edge region to the central region. In contrast, reverse cladding decreases the re-cast zone from the edge region to the central region. This work aims to address the scientific reasons for the variation in the formation of the reaction zone during reverse cladding through casting. |
