Abstract Scope |
The management of e-scrap materials generated from the end of life electrical and electronic goods attracts ever more attention in terms of waste generation and environmental concerns. These materials, however, are also increasingly viewed as an important resource that can be accessible in countries that may otherwise lack the endowment of naturally occurring mineral deposits. In this paper the opportunities to maximise value creation by recovering as many valuable products from e-scrap as possible are discussed. Various technology and flowsheet options that form the basis of the Metso eScrap process are presented and discussed. This paper also describes technical aspects relevant to the environmental footprint associated with the processing of e-scrap, including consideration of solid waste, liquid and gaseous emissions that may be generated during processing of e-scrap. |
