Abstract: Semi-steel is a by-product generated during the smelting process of titanium concentrate in an electric furnace. In order to achieve the multi purposes of high value-added utilization and heat recovery, a clean iron powder fabrication process combining a rotary cup atomizer with water curtain was applied using semisteel as raw material. The heat exchange between the water curtain and iron powder is a key factor effecting the recovery of waste heat. A simplified model was established to elucidate traveling trajectory and temperature of iron powder during passing through the water curtain. The effect of water flow rate on the heat exchange between water curtain and iron powder was calculated in this study.
